Maximise the impact of your teaching assistants

Small group tuition is defined as one teacher or professional such as a qualified teaching assistant working with two to five pupils in a group. Small group tuition is highlighted by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) as an intervention producing positive impacts on learners, with an estimated effect of four additional months progress.

The intervention included is designed for a qualified teaching assistant to deliver six fully resourced lessons focused on key skills in English. The lessons focus on basic punctuation, such as full stops, capital letters, commas and apostrophes. Therefore, the intervention is best suited for KS2 learners working below their expected progress level. 

This free course is designed to provide you with all the resources you require to implement a small group catch up programme in your school. The course will show you how to set up a small scale trial in your school, whereby we create a comparator group which receives the programme after the intervention group.

At the end of the intervention, you are able to submit an anonymised data file so that our stats team can run an analysis for the impact in your school. We then use an innovative approach to aggregating the data to create a cumulative meta-analysis, which lets us know how the intervention is working nationally and internationally. 

The course is ideal as evidence for your CPD, whilst also providing a cost effective intervention for your catch-up programmes.
